The Snake is still offering some very good fishing but, with warming water temperatures and continued dry weather, there is inconsistency from day to day on each reach. You can still get into good numbers and size, just be prepared to change up your game plan and don’t get two focused on solely fishing dry flies, nymphs, or streamers. And be ready to fish a variety of holding water with a variety of tactics.

Snake River Angler Fly Fishing Report for August 19th, 2015

The Snake is still fishing good on all stretches, but water temps are warming up (66 degrees at 5pm at Moose Bridge) and the typical mid-summer waning of hatches is occurring. So, as on the South Fork, you are going to have to work a bit harder for your fish. Change up your tactics, strategies, and flies, and it can be a pretty solid day.

Things are still rockin’ on the Snake and is still the place to be at the moment. As has been the case over the past two weeks, expect slow periods from day to day or hour to hour. But for the most part, the Snake is on!

Snake River Angler Fly Fishing Report for August 3rd, 2015

Still fishing very well, especially in the Canyon reaches from South Park down to Sheep Gulch and from Jackson Lake Dam down to Pacific Creek. PMDs and caddis are about, but we are just now really starting to see a few Claassenia adults scurrying about on the banks and flying along the river corridor. Nothing off-the-charts, but it bodes well for the fishing we should have over the next couple of months.
